Make Your SSQA Forks More Versatile With This Quickly Built Accessory

Scrap iron pieces are selected and welded together to make a versatile accessory for moving trailers in the woods or around the shop easily. Many times guys like me bore a hole in the end of a fork and stick a ball there, but the ability to lift a heavy load rapidly diminishes the further out the length of the forks the lifting position is located, especially with the smaller compact tractors. Another thing to consider is the strain a heavy load will make on only one of the two forks by using only one. Yes, they can be damaged, sprung to the point that both forks no longer remain parallel. Back to the point....in tight spaces in the woods, it is so much easier to run in with a small tractor or skidloader and just simply pick up the front end of a trailer with the ball and shift it where ever it needs to be placed. No need to risk 'customizing' the fenders on an expensive truck unnecessarily and this is the way to lower that risk. Another good use for it can be seen in a recent video where we used the ball with a nylon choker wrapped around it to load large oak blocks to the dump trailer with skidding tongs. I included 10 seconds at the end of the video where you can plainly see the rig in case you didn't notice it on that video or didn't watch that video. The little L3301 would not have picked up one single one of the large rounds lifting on the end of the forks, but up close to the pivot pins, there was no problem. The best thing about using this accessory is the load stays balanced in the center of the loader. So, if you have the need for such a thing....and who wouldn't....and happen to have the right scrap parts around along with the tools to do it....why not?!! Well, I'm not suggesting for you to do it unless you trust your welding of course. Like I always say, don't do as I say and definitely don't do what I do, but take the idea make it better and do your own thing..... Yes, that was the disclaimer.
