Back in the day, clock radios were everywhere. You could find them in every single household, and in places like hotels and even in the workplace. But over time, they don't seem as common as they once were. It goes without saying that the smartphone has replaced the clock radio. Many people rely on their smart phone to wake them up every morning. But does this mean that the clock radio is completely extinct? In this video, I take a look at the current state of clock radios. Are they still being manufactured? Are there businesses out there that still sell them? Watch the video to find out! I know I used a clock radio for much of my life. I actually owned one (I still have it in storage somewhere) that was made by a company called Spartus. That thing is 40 years old, and I am sure it still works fine. It may be true that smartphones have taken over in many aspects of our daily lives. But you may be surprised about the current state of the clock radio. Are there actually people out there who still use them, and still prefer them? Let's find out! It never ceases to amaze me how a supposedly dead piece of technology is always still out there to one degree or another. No matter how outdated or antiquated a certain item from the past may be, it is almost guaranteed that there is still a group of people out there who still cling to it and still enjoy using it. Do you still use a clock radio? What brand do you have? Do you prefer it over using a cell phone? Or do you think clock radios are an archaic piece of outdated tech that should just go away? Feel free to leave a comment! On this channel I post videos relating to retro and vintage technology. Things like cassettes, CDs, old cameras, laser disc, radios, TVs, DVDs, vinyl, VCRs, home recording gear, microphones, mixers, synthesizers, drum machines, video games, and so much more.
