I started the morning with the aroma of fresh dough. My hands were lost in the flour, the soft dough that was to be turned into golden loaves. At the same time, a pot of rice was placed on the clay stove, rice fragrant with fresh green beans and fatty mutton. Now it was time for the kara-qrouti bread. I shaped the dough into thin circles and fried them in hot oil until they were crispy and golden. I mixed the kara-qrouti with water and poured it over the loaves. The sourness and sweetness combined to create a tempting aroma. Evening came and everything was ready. I arranged the sweet and sour kara-qrouti bread, hot rice with green beans and mutton, and a bowl of fresh homemade doogh by the fireplace. Hot Atishi tea was also waiting in clay cups.
