Let's get inside the hive and see what's going on. This is the status of a small colony of honey bees on July 6th during a nectar flow. The queen is not shown, but she is productive based on the brood that we see. Forage is good, and resources are plentiful as demonstrated by capped honey as well as well-fed larvae. This colony had zero mites during their last mite-count and therefore does not currently require treatment. Hive size, this is an observation hive that is composed of 9 deep Langstroth Frames.
