The island has also built a reputation as a hideaway for the wealthy, and has become very popular with tourists who want to experience the traditional Swahili culture and luxurious villas that it offers. We've visited Lamu several times before, but this time we had the opportunity to stay on neighbouring Manda island which offers a completely different experience than the typical "Lamu experience".
