The Pitcairn Islands / Pitkern Ailen (annexed territories by UK)- territorial anthem adopted in 1920

ounty Day in the Pitcairn Islands Date in the current year: January 23, 2024 Bounty Day in the Pitcairn Islands January 23 is Bounty Day in the Pitcairn Islands. This day commemorates the anniversary of the mutiny on HMS Bounty in 1790. HM Armed Vessel Bounty was sent to the Pacific Ocean to acquire some breadfruits and transport them to the West Indies. The mission began in December 1787, but was never completed. On April 28, 1789, about 1,300 miles west of Tahiti, a mutiny broke out. The ship was taken by the mutineers bloodlessly. The ship sailed to the island of Tubai, where the mutineers tried to settle, but after three months of bloody conflicts with the natives they had to return to Tahiti. Some of the ship’s crew were set ashore in Tahiti, and the rest of the crew sailed further, hoping to elude the Royal Navy. The mutineers passed Fiji and Cook Islands and continued their quest for a safe haven. On January 15, 1790, they rediscovered Pitcairn Island that had been displaced on the Royal Navy’s charts. The decision was made to settle on Pitcairn Island. Livestock and provision were removed from the ship. In order to prevent detection and anyone’s possible escape, HMS Bounty was burned on January 23. Nowadays the Pitcairn Islands are a British Overseas Territory and one of the least populous national jurisdictions in the world. Most of the islanders are the descendants of the Bounty mutineers and Tahitians who sailed the ship there. ................................................................ Popular a short version of The National anthem of the Pitcairn Islands to Bounty Day celebrated from 23rd January 1790. "Come Ye Blessed" is a territorial song of the British overseas territory of the Pitcairn Islands, and is the official territorial song of the Australian territory of Norfolk Island and is sung at most island events. The lyrics are taken from the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 25, verses 34–36 and 40.The music was composed by John Prindle Scott (1877–1932) and published in 1917. It is also known as the "Pitcairn Anthem" in Norfolk Island, suggesting it may have been already in use and brought by Pitcairn Islanders upon their arrival in 1856. "God Save the King" remains the official national and royal anthem of the Pitcairn Islands and the official royal anthem of Norfolk Island. Lyrics in English Come, Ye Blessed Text: Matthew 25:34-36 Music: John Prindle Scott (Long versio) Then shall the King say unto them upon His right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, from the foundation of the world. Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.Come, ye blessed of my Father. I was an-hungered, and ye gave me meat;I was athirst, and ye gave me drink;I was a stranger, and ye took me in; Naked, and ye clothed me;I was sick, sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me,ye came unto me. Therefore, come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.Come, ye blessed of my Father, come, come, come. ...................................................... Come, Ye Blessed Text: Matthew 25:34-36 Music: John Prindle Scott (Short versio) Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.Come, ye blessed of my Father come, come, come. -------------------------------------------------------------- Lyrics in Pitkern Then gwen daa King Tal unto dem Orn hes rait haan: Kam ye blessed o mais Faada Inherit daa kingdum prepared f' yuu Fram daa foundayshun o t' werl I wos hungaa'd en ye giw mii miit, I wos thirstii en ye giw mii a drink I wos a strienja en ye tek mii iin, Noe klorth en ye klorthd mii, I wos sor en ye wisitiid mii, I wos iin pris'n en ye kam unto mii Iin es mach ye gat dan et unto wan o daa liis o Thiis mais brethren Ye gat dan et unto mii, Ye gat dan et unto mii. ......................................... The Pitcairn Islands are a remote British colony in the South Pacific, famous for being the site where the mutineers from the HMS Bounty landed. The islands’ population have always been very small (currently numbering around 50), yet, aside from the official anthem of God Save the King (which is not heard often on the islands), there have been, and continue to be, many unofficial anthems in use in the colony.
