Happy 20th anniversary of your first show with MCR, Frank! Live recording of My Chemical Romance on 2002-06-14 at Club Krome in South Amboy, NJ, US. This is very special, not only was it Frank’s first show, but it was also my first time seeing MCR. I went in blind. A close friend of mine at the time (credited as Starboy on the Like Phantoms Forever CD-r) who was working on their internet marketing and presence said, and I'm paraphrasing, “go see this band and record them”. So I told @deadhoarse about the prospect and he drove us up to Club Krome. Unfortunately, we were late. We thought they’d go on later, but they were playing as we arrived so the recording is incomplete. We can’t exactly remember who was the “mic stand” for this source, but we do both remember scrambling to set up and record once we got through the door. So it's possible there is a second incomplete audience recording of this show. I think we were both taken aback by the raw energy of the first song we both heard, the Jack The Ripper cover. Ray's guitar virtuosity during the solo is nearly dwarfed by Gerard's overwhelming enthusiasm for it. You can even hear us briefly discuss our first impressions at 00:10:43 just before the impromptu encore. There's so much to say about this performance, but maybe you should just listen to it. Ultimately, this show was a fierce introduction for us and led us to document more shows. Gerard mentions in the infamous 2003 WSOU interview that Delaware (2002-06-29) was my first show, but it was, in fact, this one. I just didn't introduce myself until the next show in Delaware. I'd like to emphasize here just how much @deadhoarse has contributed to this wild ride. We used to go to a lot of shows together. He drove a lot. When my Sharp MD MT-15 died, he lent me his Sharp MD MT-90 and Sony ECM-717 mic with which I went on to record a ton of other shows with. He's also responsible for ensuring my masters were properly digitally transferred. Please give him a sub and/or some love in the comments. It never would've happened without him. 00:00:52 - Jack The Ripper [Morrissey] 00:05:05 - Vampires Will Never Hurt You Encore: 00:12:30 - Skylines And Turnstiles Recording: Sony ECM-717 / Sharp MD MT-90 Transfer: Sony MDS-PC3 / iRiver H120 (Rockbox 3.10) (optical) Recording by @deadhoarse /@spaceyraygun Transfer by @deadhoarse ( / deadhoarse )
