Neuronavigation is a combination of computer-assisted technologies used by neurosurgeons to navigate within the constraints of the skull or vertebral column during surgery. In the surgical management of brain tumours, performed by means of craniotomy, neuronavigation has become a standard tool. A craniotomy is a surgical procedure that provides access to the brain tissue by removing a portion of the skull's bone. In stereotactic craniotomy, preoperative MRI and/or CT scans are used to guide surgery in a 3D anatomical orientation. The intracranial images obtained with these modalities give a multitude of anatomical details as well as the ability to precisely identify tumour location and size. Neuronavigation helps to correlate a lesion seen on a scan with the anatomical reality of the patient. obtain a maximal resection of that lesion while breaching normal brain tissue to the smallest degree possible. Baby Manali Dutta, successfully underwent Neuronavigation Guided Craniotomy and Excision of Tumour under the guidance of Dr. Venu Gopal G, Consultant Neurosurgeon at Yashoda Hospitals Somajiguda.
