We took our fully kitted Toyota Land Cruiser 200 to De Wildt 4x4 Game Park — just outside Johannesburg — for a weekend of camping, axle-twisting obstacles, wildlife encounters, questionable ablutions… and a proper bushveld braai. From Bobbejaan se Kierie to the scenic viewpoint before Gert se Klip, this trip reminded us that you don’t need to drive to Namibia or Botswana to build real 4x4 confidence. Sometimes the best training ground is an hour from Fourways.
