The Uganda Volleyball Federation has intensified efforts to expand the game of volleyball across the country through the introduction of regional leagues aimed at identifying and nurturing talent before players transition to the national league. The initiative is already gaining momentum, with the Western Regional League matches played over the weekend showcasing emerging talent and competitive spirit among schools and institutions. In the opening fixtures, Ibanda Secondary School fell three nil to Mbarara University of Science and Technology , St. Jerome High School Ndama Rukungiri delivered a commanding 3–0 victory over Genz of St. Kagwa High School Bushenyi. St. Benedict Vocational School Kagamba suffered a 1–3 defeat to St. Paul Vocational School Nyarushanje of Rukungiri. Ibanda Secondary School also lost in straight set to PEAS Aspire from Ibanda. In the final match of the weekend, St. Jerome High School Ndama Rukungiri maintained their dominance with a straight-sets win over St. Paul Vocational School Nyarushanje. Federation officials say the regional league structure is designed to strengthen the game.
