Here's part 2 of this video and the results were shocking to me. I didn't expect to see anything close to these numbers, however the meter shows it. Even though it's a cheaper CB grade meter, I've put it next to my MFJ and a friends Bird meter and it's very close. It can't be distortion from the radio itself as it was professionally aligned and tuned to 100% modulation on a scope. I'm only running 8 AWG wires, but they are going directly to the battery. The radio is being fed from a battery distribution point 12 inches away from the battery so it's definitely getting enough juice. No cigarette lighter plugs, going off of the interior fuse panel or any nonsense like that. Is the power output legit? I don't know, but I'd have to say yes. We are talking about PEP numbers here, not average of course. I don't even bother with average numbers any longer to be honest. The amp was totally gone through and rebuilt by an amp tech a few years ago, New genuine Toshiba pills, upgraded power wires and a few other needed components. I added the two fans and they are excellent at keeping it cool. I'll probably adjust the radios variable power to get the dead key on the amp down to 150 watts. Probably not necessary, but would help to prolong it's life especially if I get to shooting skip. The Sirio antenna has been a huge upgrade as well. I'm all done with the newer made in China junk Wilson branded antennas sold by RoadPro. Tired of getting water in the coil when it rains and seeing erratic SWR readings. I'd highly recommend the Sirio Performer or Tornado 5000 antennas! I've tried dozens of antenna out there and very happy with it.
