The researchers found two things: First, most people use aluminum cookware because it’s affordable and widely available, Second, aluminum cookware leaches significant toxic metals into food, and cooking with it regularly is a significant health risk. A 2016 meta-analysis of more than 10,000 participants found that consistent low-level aluminum exposure increased risk of Alzheimer’s Disease by 71%. A 2017 review found that aluminum is also neurotoxic, and that even low-level exposure to it causes brain damage over time. The same review concluded that aluminum may also increase breast cancer risk, although the data on that is more mixed.
