Unlike other common banana plants the Ensete Maurelii does not readily produce 'pups' around the base, so it is propagated by division of the stalk, core and roots. Remove some of the #soil from the root ball, remove excess #leaves, then using a clean, sharp knife slice down through the stem of the plant carefully cutting in into four equal quarters. Plant each quarter in to fresh #compost and store in a warm place, keeping moist. Be patient, it will look dead for several weeks, then you will see small white lumps or nodules appear around the base. Each of these will grow to form a small cluster of baby red banana plants.
