I harvested the first carrots. This bed was planted all at once instead of in succession. We've tried succession planting carrots in the past, but we don't have a long enough season so the second planting doesn't get very big. The carrots are still small but many are big enough that it's worthwhile to stop buying them from the store. I harvested some peppers and green beans earlier. My daughter had offered to help me dig potatoes so we set out to start. She was having trouble finding potatoes, kept touching mushy and slimy things, and got tired out pretty quick. It was certainly hot and the potatoes seemed small and scarce. My husband had harvested several already for dinners so maybe that was why there were not many in that side of the bed. We also found several that were eaten on by critters, some that were split, and many small ones. Still, after laying them all out on the table there seemed to be more than I thought there was. That's the way it goes sometimes. I've got to get the rest harvested as soon as I can, so that's a priority on my everchanging list. I've been on a journey to self-sufficiency, learning to develop and master life skills, often primitive ones. I love growing and harvesting the food I eat. It allows me to witness the life force moving through all living things. The goal is to connect with the Earth and the other elements as often as possible. Thanks for watching!
