I am concerned for the pernicious increase in the use of police for 'Security'. During soccer violence police presence is necessary, but Football Clubs have done a great deal to reduce this and make the game a family activity. These images are show the incredulous levels of police presence, in addition to the 'compulsory' security presence. This is what increases the cost of the sports you may enjoy watcher live. It also detracts from the police proper purpose, as the emergency service, protecting people fro crimes and violence they experience. I waited 5 days Police to interview me about an assault I experienced. I have been pepper sprayed, while helping police to settle and mentally distressed man. I have met many great police officers, looking after vulnerable children and disabled adults. I have found little fault with them. I have over the years found police helpful and polite. Many of these same officers, when brought together with the more aggressive 'yob' police colleagues, there is often a 'personality change'. Mob Rule takes over and the power they wield goes to their heads. This has become far more sinister in recent years, from 1980 onwards the Thatcher Government gave the police more powers and turned them on the Trade Unions and any other group that protested publicly. The police interventions were clearly directed to be 'provocative & violent'. Since that time, no government has reined back on this aggression, and has further enhanced the intimidating presence of police in all activities. Now we have a para-military police force. Some officers are specialist, with guns,but all police officers are regularly brought in, armoured up and sent in on protests to smash them. Police forces are also used to assess, police, or even reject 'public entertainments', or make them so expensive to run that they fail to happen. Again they push up the costs of your enjoyment and put you at risk of the bad judgements of officers with such powers. When decked out in their Yellow, White and Blue, they look like menacing poisonous lizards, when snaking along in these 'security' operations. When togged up in their armour, carrying their Shields and various assault weapons, they are even more insidious. They become a public menace, a Gang as abusive a any criminal Gang and one the Courts constantly protect when there are serious public complaints. There is no doubt their role has changed and 'Security' now means 'Fear and Insecurity' at the hands of these 'Bullying Creeps', organised a Thugs. When you encounter a Thug, you are advised to find any useful defensive weapon and defend yourself aggressively. That is what I propose to do. That is self defence and Police acting as thugs deserve as much. I advise you to do the same. Things can only get worse before they get better. The police are not a Law unto themselves. In fact they often do not understand the Law.
