Photosensitive warning: The screen constantly goes black from the protagonist blinking and there are flickering lights. The red and white cycling lights appear at the end when he looks at the chair. John is describing everything, so it's possible to only listen and still have an idea of what's happening on the screen. I've never played this before, so I have no clue how spoilery this is. I think it's hilarious that I knew nothing of this before I made my video of Arthur and John playing Outer Wilds. • Arthur Lester plays Outer Wilds with ... That video has significantly less flashing in it than this one. This content is not mine. It's a clip I made so that I could more easily watch this part and give it subtitles. The original video is here: https://www.youtube.com/live/4zxyjMJx... I have not watched the entire thing and am not likely to. (If there is more Malevolent content hidden in that video, please tell me.) Fun fact: the video this comes from was streamed the same day I started listening to Malevolent. Closed captioning notes: for the sake of brevity, I wrote them as just "John" and "Arthur" instead of "Harlan (as Arthur)" and "Harlan (as John)" except when he suddenly adds in a third voice or breaks character. I don't know who Red is, but I assumed that I should label one of the voices as Red. I used the same wording from the Malevolent transcripts to describe the music and stings that are also in the podcast. Though I changed "an ominous chord plays" to "deep ominous chord" because who needs articles, and I wanted some clarity because that same descriptor was used for a different sound. The same goes for "intense rapid music" instead of "intense music" and "ominous note" instead of "a single ominous note." ---- alt text: The video opens with white text on black showing the photosensitive warning. John, Arthur, and Jo cover some of the audio descriptions in this video. Arthur's reading an improvised version of the opening game text, "April 17, 1997, 10:24 PM. Pripyat, Ukraine. Monika cordially invites you to explore her new apartment and discover the exciting chapter of her life." This text disappears by collapsing in on itself, inside letters deleting themselves while the outside letters jaggedly move inward. The black screen fades to the interior of a dimly lit building. This is a first-person video game. White text flashing in the upper left corner of the screen reads, "Objective: find Monika's apartment." When they look at the first door on the second floor, the text, "Nikola Belinski's apartment's, Press E to interact" pops up. The second door interact text reads, "Victor Reznov apartment's." When Arthur calls out to Monika, he's reading the protagonist's dialogue appearing in the lower left corner of the screen. Original text reads, "Monika? Monika, you here? It's me! Can you please open? No answer, maybe I need to call her?" Objective text reads, "Find a phone and call Monika." The protagonist heads upstairs and, when they walk into a door, the footstep sound effect does not seem to change or stop. They head back downstairs and find a French candlestick telephone. Original protagonist dialogue reads, "Hey, Monika, are you home? I came by and it seems like you might be running a bit late or something. Is it alright if I come in? Could you let me know how to get inside? Thanks!" Jo reads Monika's text, which is the same other than, "push because it's unlocked." Original protagonist dialogue reads, "Thanks Monika! See you soon!" Centered text reads, "New Objective," while objective text reads, "Enter in Monika's apartment." The protagonist heads upstairs during pizza argument. After John says, "spooky," the video cuts forward and an editor's note reads, "Yes, I skipped ahead because I'm here for John and Arthur." The figure appears at the door to Nikolai Belinski's apartment. At its scream, the figure disappears, and the light goes out. When they find Monika's apartment door open, "New Objective" appears and reads, "Close Monika's main door and switch on the kitchen's radiator." When they answer the door and look outside, "New Objective" appears and reads, "Try to stay safe in Monika's apartement." After Arthur tries the front door, he goes up one level to find that Victor Reznov's apartment is open. After much wandering, they open Nikolai's apartment to find words written in red. An editor's note appears to warn of cycling red and white lights that are seen when the protagonist turns around to look at a chair illuminated by the flashing light. He sits and a figure appears with the scream, the camera shaking before it fades to black.
