BOTOX Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxin A) is an alternative to BOTOX®. Like BOTOX®, Dysport® is an FDA approved prescription injection for moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults 18 to 65 years old. One study showed that Dysport worked for longer than Botox in participants with severe frontalis lines (horizontal forehead lines). In this trial, a unit-to-unit ratio of 2.5:1 (ie, 25 units of Dysport was considered equivalent to 10 units of Botox) was used. BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a non-surgical prescription medication that is injected into muscles to improve moderate to severe frown lines. It is FDA approved for treatment of the frown lines between the eyebrows in adults 18 to 65 years of age. BOTOX® works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. BOTOX® helps to improve the wrinkles and furrows that develop from squinting, concentrating, frowning, and looking surprised.
