Meet singer-songwriter Laura Dempsey, who is one of our Life With No Limits Champions for 2021. Laura is passionate about music and has even performed on stage with Frances Black, one of her favourite artists. Laura loves creating and recording, and has produced two songs. Her inspiration for the songs is her family and her friends. Laura is an Adult Service Owner with Enable Ireland. She has spina bifida and hydrocephalus. As she is visually impaired, she uses JAWS, a computer screen reader program for Microsoft Windows, to write lyrics. This is a great example of how assistive technology can facilitate a unique musical collaboration. Laura says while she has struggled with her disability in the past, being on stage meant she didn’t feel like she had a disability.
