"On 19th May 2025, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. P. Nagabhushan Garu delivered a deeply insightful and contemporary address during the Two-Week Capacity Building Programme (CBP) for Faculty in Social Sciences and Humanities, organised at Vignan’s University. The programme focused on enhancing methodological expertise and technological adaptation, addressing the urgent need for academic transformation in today’s rapidly evolving world. 🎓 Faculty Capacity Building for a New Academic Era Prof. Nagabhushan Garu highlighted that capacity building is no longer limited to subject knowledge. Instead, it must focus on: Research methodology Technological adaptability Analytical depth Contemporary relevance He discussed the different modules of the CBP, emphasising how each module is designed to strengthen faculty competence in: Research methods Digital tools Technology-assisted teaching Academic productivity 🌍 Technology as a Strategic Necessity Drawing a strong real-world connection, Sir referred to the recent India–Pakistan conflict, explaining how technology played a decisive role in modern warfare. He clearly stated: “Without technology, we cannot do anything nowadays.” He used this example to underline that: Technology is not optional Technology determines outcomes Technology shapes power, security, and progress This reflection extended beyond warfare into education, governance, and research. 🧠 Teaching vs Technology – A Powerful Insight One of the most thought-provoking lines from his speech was: “Real technology is not enhanced by teaching, but teaching can be done through technology.” He explained that: Technology evolves independently through innovation Education must learn to leverage technology effectively Faculty must shift from traditional delivery models to technology-enabled pedagogy 💡 The Importance of Prompting & Thought Design Prof. Nagabhushan Garu also spoke about the importance of prompting, especially in the context of: Digital tools AI-assisted systems Research thinking He emphasised that: The quality of output depends on the quality of prompts Thinking must be structured before technology is applied Faculty must guide students in asking the right questions, not just finding answers 📘 Social Sciences, Humanities & Technology Integration He strongly advocated that the social sciences and Humanities cannot remain isolated from technology.
