Regina Spektor singing "The Virgin Queen" at the Bush Hall in London, England. The recording quality is very bad, but this is the only known recording of this song to date. Still, you can definitely make out the lyrics, as also supplied below in the most accurate form I think is out there... An interesting thing to note about this song is that around 3:10 where it sounds like Regina is singing gibberish, when played in reverse the first two lines at 3:10 clearly sound like she's singing the phrase "family come home". Whether or not that was intentional is of course unknown, but it's neat nonetheless. -- Men who shoot their Horses are the Same men who would Like to kiss your hand (They're waiting in the ballrooms and the bedrooms and the bathroom) Men who shoot their Horses are the Same men who will Go and shoot a friend (Save him from chemo, my husband from chemo) The virgin queen The virgin queen The virgin queen Headless mother Heartless father Ghosts of yes men past and future In the bedroom you must suture Up that hole Where the babies come from England, oh, England Never forsake me Won't you take me to have and to hold? I may be a cruel, crude woman But in the distance I hear Shakespeare mumblin' Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune Or to take arms against the sea of troubles, troubles, troubles England, England, never forsake me Won't you take me to have and to hold? I can hear the voices risin' The virgin queen The virgin queen The virgin queen The virgin queen In the end You'll try to rule As best as you can But the crown gets cold And mind gets old And all the gold Could invite my souls To a place to come home to In the end, there's just a bed And the things we made had begun to fade On the distant shores new voices are risin' emoh emoc he leh contende emoh hey umo emoh emoh ey uh emoh hey bay hey ahleh he leh he leh he umo una hey una una hey hey uh uma hey bay hey no ahleh hey uma una hey una uma hey hey uma hey bay heyleh heyleh eh hey uma una hey eh uma una hey eh The virgin queen The virgin queen The virgin queen The virgin queen
