About Nolan and Susan: Nolan Oswald Dennis is an interdisciplinary artist. His practice explores ‘black consciousnesses of space’, i.e. the material and metaphysical conditions of decolonization. Susan Schuppli is a researcher and artist based in the UK whose work examines material evidence from war and conflict to environmental disasters and climate change. Nolan has been a Digital Earth fellow 2020/2021 and Susan was part of this year's faculty. They met up virtually for a studio visit and discussed Nolan's practice and Low Silence, the project he developed during his fellowship. About the Digital Earth Fellowship: The 2020-2021 iteration of the Digital Earth Fellowship focussed on investigating The Planetary Sensorium and how we can imagine a humane digital earth to come, as we pan the camera out to a planetary scale. Taking theme The Planetary Sensorium as their starting point, the fellows have worked together to explore this theme through a variety of mediums, methodologies, and senses.
