Join us for our 15th ASRG-WORLD LiveStream, the global online (COVID Approved) version of ASRG. This time we have the pleasure of having Ken Tindell from Canis Labs who will talk about trying to secure a bus that is from the 1980's and is in almost every car... the CAN bus. Slack: https://join.slack.com/t/asrg/shared_... Twitter: / autosecresgroup LinkedIn: / automotive-security-research-group Telegram: https://t.me/joinchat/AfA9GxiVUuUTYUz... PRESENTATION: “CAN Bus: Attacks And Mitigations” CAN is an old protocol, dating back to the late 1980s when few had heard of the Internet let alone the idea of connecting cars to it. It remains ubiquitous because it’s almost perfectly designed to fit the needs of the automotive industry. But now it is time to directly address the security of CAN. This webinar describes some of the attacks on CAN buses, both frame-level attacks and low-level protocol attacks on the CAN protocol, and some of the mitigations, including the latest security augmentation of the CAN protocol using hardware IP developed by Canis Automotive Labs. SPEAKER: Ken Tindell CTO Canis Labs Dr. Ken Tindell is the co-founder and CTO of Canis Automotive Labs. His doctorate is in real-time scheduling from the University of York where he developed Deadline Monotonic Analysis for CAN bus. He co-founded the automotive real-time OS company LiveDevices (later acquired by Bosch) and co-founded Volcano Communications Technology, a joint-venture with Volvo and Motorola and one of the pioneers of the LIN protocol (later acquired by Mentor Graphics).
