Forget visiting a maritime museum when you can visit a maritime festival or Tall Ships! Actually see the beautiful ships in person - climb on board - talk to the crew; get a feel for what it must be like to sail these out into open waters. Often more than 40 Tall Ships sail to multiple cities around the world and give us ordinary people a chance to see these monsters of the sea close up. They visit cities around the UK, Ireland, Europe - and towards the USA and Canada. Admission tends to be free - so really worth going out for a day and exploring these. This video was shot when Belfast City held the Maritime Festival and some of the same ships that take part in the Tall Ships visited the city again. In Belfast, Northern Ireland, there are usually different events that highlight the city every single year and one of these different events is the Maritime Festival which might be sometimes referred to as the ships festival that is held in the city and which displays different ships coming from other countries to let the public experience being on board ( • Belfast Maritime Festival - Belfast Northe... ). The Maritime Festival in Belfast and which is sometimes referred to as Titanic Maritime Festival is one event held in the capital city of Northern Ireland every single year and which brings different tall ships for the public to view and come on board as well as different activities for the kids and the family as a whole along with some live entertainment shows. This festival which we got the chance to head to is held three days on each year; Friday, Saturday, and Monday, at the Queens Quay, the Arc and Titanic Quarter - you should definitely never miss the chance of heading to this festival (next year if you have already missed it this year) in order to experience the whole thing without having to go to museums or else travel to other countries in order to get a glimpse of it all. There were different famous ships which managed to stop by the festival and gave the public the chance to come on board and from those which you might already know or have heard about before, there was the Earl of Pembroke, Kaskelot ( • Kaskelot Tall Ship Built in 1948 - Belfast... ), the Phoenix as well as the Russian vessel Shtandart which docked throughout the festival. The Royal Navy and the Irish Naval service also managed to stop in Belfast especially for this festival. There are different activities that were held during the Maritime Festival in Belfast and which were dedicated for kids, such as storytelling, dancing on the decks, face drawing, pirate classes on board of the Phoenix, outdoor fun, visiting the charity zone, along with other different things that even brought the parents to play along with their kids - Oh, yes, we did that! One of the things that has always been on the list of places that one should visit in Northern Ireland is Titanic Museum ( • TITANIC MUSEUM BELFAST Discover the Facts ... ) since RMS Titanic was built in Northern Ireland and thus became one of the landmarks of this place - you would even find a memorial for Titanic at Belfast City Hall where the names of all the victims are written down on a 9 meter long plinth ( • City Hall Belfast Visitor Exhibition 4K - ... ). Titanic Museum in Belfast is located in the same place where the Maritime festival is held and also in the same place where the SS Nomadic is located - the ship that has always been perceived as the smaller sister of Titanic and which was inspired by Titanic when it was built and when its interiors where being done ( • SS Nomadic Belfast - A Tour of the Titanic... ). This means that you will be fully surrounded with ships and places related to them that you will totally get that atmosphere of being in a ships festival. Even though one of the most significant things about this event and festival is the fact that people will be allowed to come on board of the ships and experience everything from the inside, there was also another thing provided in this event, which was "The Voyage"; a newly formed sail training initiative which offers young people the opportunity to develop new skills, meet new people, and change their voyage through life. Food, drink, and parking are all easy and available around this area, so you will enjoy your time and at the same time reach this area easily and manage to hold yourself with the food you could get there without falling down. It was actually a different kind of festival to come across, one that will give people the chance to experience things and ships which they might never get the chance to come across any other way or any other time - we definitely enjoyed the Maritime Festival along with the kids. There are a lot of things to attend in Belfast that might be held every single year, such as the Tesco Food Festival ( • Tesco Food Festival Belfast - Northern Ire... ), and that of course comes in addition to the general places that one could visit in this city, the capital of Northern Ireland.
