Recently metamodernism has been showing up more and more, and my goal here is to use music to help provide some insight into what people are talking about when they refer to topics like modernism, postmodernism, and metamodernism. This is inspired by the work of @ThomasFlight, @BrendanGrahamDempsey, and others doing work in Metamodern analysis. (Also thanks @redeemedzoomer6053 for letting me steal your style :)) In this video we explore the evolution of cultural movements through the lens of music, starting from tradition through modernity, postmodernity, and finally metamodernity. It highlights how each movement responds to and builds upon the previous one. Tradition is depicted as the era of specific cultural expressions unique to each group. Modernity emerges with the Enlightenment, emphasizing reason and standardization, while postmodernity critiques and diversifies music genres, challenging the dominance of classical norms. Metamodernity, the focus of the script, seeks to integrate the strengths of previous movements, blending diverse genres to create something greater. We uses examples from music, including Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt," to illustrate the concept of metamodernity as a synthesis of past influences. • Sleep Token- Alkaline LIVE Blue Ridge Rock...
