The guy who composed MHA’s soundtrack!!! Ok not that Yuki Hayashi lmao. I’ve gotta be honest, for the longest time I never planned to make a Yuki Hayashi MAD. I always saw him as a great animator, but never one of my favs. However with in the past year, that all changed. Ever since MHA movie 4 I feel like every scene I’ve seen from him has been absolutely jaw dropping. One Piece Fan Letter, the Yaiba OP, his recent work on One Piece, the Takopii OP and now Yaiba episode 13. He’s appeared on so much this year and somehow every scene has been some of his best work yet, which is especially insane since he’s been around in the industry for quite a bit. Here’s someone who started off as a character acting animator nailing the craft of it and eventually also becoming a master effects animator as well. He’s so versatile not only in the types of scenes he does but also putting out amazing drawings for shows in all sorts of styles. MHA? He’s one of the best at drawing it. Mob? He’s got it. Pokémon, Takopii, Yaiba, One Piece, Precure, even Dragon Ball?????? I consider him to be a pretty smooth and fast paced animator, but yet he also manages to channel a Kanada style in some of his works, which makes a lot of sense why he’s also on things like Mob and Yaiba. He can pretty much elevate any type of scene to the max with detailed art, smooth movement, and killer effects of debris, bringing a treat for fans of any anime he works on. I think when picking a song for a Yuki Hayashi MAD, people would naturally flock to a really hype track, and I wouldn’t blame you for doing so, but I wanted to try something interesting. For the longest time, I’ve been trying to make a Kenshi Yonezu song work for a MAD, and somehow it always doesn’t turn out right. I’ve tried twice to do a Bahi JD MAD with two different Yonezu songs and I just wasn’t vibing with the combination. My character acting 2 MAD was also gonna have a Yonezu song but it still didn’t seem as good as I wanted it to be. I thought I might never be able to make a MAD that I was happy with for my favorite Japanese music artist, but I was able to make something work here with my favorite song of his: Kanden. Not every scene that Hayashi has done is inherently hype meaning I could use those for some of the slower parts of the song and Kanden in Japanese means “electric shock” which reminded me of the lightning effects Hayashi has done in some of his works. There’s so many scenes that worked so much better than I thought they would and 2:01-2:26 fits almost perfectly with both the beat and the lyrics. I’m really happy I went with this song and it didn’t even take too long to edit at all
