Wild Africa and Imire support Inmate Rehabilitation Programme

We are honoured to work alongside ‪@WildAid‬ and WildAid Ambassador, the First Lady of Zimbabwe, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, to support their Inmate Rehabilitation Programme. Imire was the location for a workshop on wildlife conservation, attended by wildlife stakeholders and inmates convicted of wildlife crimes. "There is a need to address human-wildlife conflict through awareness programmes to the demographics situated in borderline communities and game parks." After the awareness workshop, the inmates and First Lady, plus representatives of ‪@ifawglobal‬ and Wild Aid joined the Imire team on a game drive where our rangers took the guests through a demonstration of their anti-poaching drills and explained how they protect the wildlife against poachers. Peter Knights, WildAid Founder: "Here in Africa we have been working on trying to reduce poaching, amplifying public awareness, promoting tourism and trying to reduce human wildlife conflict. We have been working with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services and communities to educate them on the present system about wildlife crime and the penalties for wildlife crime. We also educate them on why we need to protect our wildlife for the economy of the country."
