Unboxing a Rediffusion EL 85 power output pentode vacuum tube. This valve is probably new & in its original box. The valve base is a Noval 9 pin, USA pico-9, B9A miniature 9 pin. The clear glass envelope has the Rediffusion logo & EL85 printed on it in white. rW2 & B2A3 date &/or manufacturing codes are visible on the valve. My knowledge & understanding of these codes is very limited but my best guess would be rW is the code for EL85 & 6BN5. tR2 EF89 version 2 or the year of manufacture ?. Philips Factory Codes; https://frank.pocnet.net/other/Philip... The green box has the Rediffusion logo & EL85 printed on one end. I have other Rediffusion valves in my collection which have "REDIFFUSION PEC" & "PEC REDIFFUSION" printed on the valves & boxes. I do not know what the PEC stands for. I was wondering if it was used by Rediffusion to denote their use of Russian made valves. The type EL 85 was first introduced in 1954 for use in mobile transmitters and receivers. The EF89 has a heater filament voltage requirement of 6.3 volts.
