For some experiments I needed a large light weight ball. I then decided to make one with expanded Polystyrene. After some thinking, I figured out how to use a hole saw to create a sphere. If you do not have a hole saw at home and you only want to use it for this purpose or probably also cutting holes through wood then, buy a cheap set of hole saws. It cost you probably less than 20 Euros. There are also high quality hole saws which are used to cut hole through metals, they are expensive and each single saw might cost 30 Euros or more. when grinding the Styrofoam, make sure that do it very gently. Also make sure that at any given time, all teeth of the hole saw are in contact with the Styrofoam, as if not, the final object would not be a sphere. Start with an empty vacuum cleaner, and also use a mask, these particles get charged and stick to your hands and everywhere. you want to vacuum them right away, and make sure not to inhale the particles.
