The American Empire. I feel like after covering the Roman Empire, Greek mythology and Norse mythology, it is time for another long-running series here on Briefed. I did enjoy the one-off videos, but there's something about digging deep into a subject and covering it one historic person at a time. So... this American Empire series will be a long one, because we've got quite a few presidents and other important people that are forever a part of the history of the United States of America and shaped its modern empire. Of course, it all started with George Washington — without him there literally would be no United States of America and they would arguably just be very un-united states belonging to various European countries. The crazy thing about George Washington is that he was a leader who actually walked the walk and didn't just talk the talk... the man was in the line of fire plenty of times and put his own body on the line to fight for freedom, and... he won. Now... whether you believe George Washington was a good man, or you condemn him for his slaves — there is no denying that his accomplishments are great. Notes: I think I mostly covered and clarified everything I wanted to do within the video, but there is one thing I want to go into more detail on: It is not clear if William Howe really decided to betray John Burgoyne or acted on his own ego... it is also possible that there was simply a lack of communication that led to the forces of Burgoyne and Howe never uniting on the battlefield. Either way though, William Howe is a central figure in that his inability to connect with John Burgoyne arguably cost Great Britain the war.
