by Lauren Diagle Here's my heart, Lord. I was born in the pew, which means I grew up in the church as a second-generation Christian. I loved the Lord even when I didn't understand what it meant to be a Christian. I never ran away from God; I just wanted to do my own thing. God allowed me to do whatever I wanted because we have free will. He was always there in my thoughts and in my heart; he just wasn't my top priority. Life was always hard and rough for me. I was always trying to find where I fit in because, Lord knows, I didn't fit in anywhere. God wanted my eyes on him and for me to be seeking him, not my idea of how life was supposed to be. One day, I fully surrendered to him. I told him he had my heart, my mind, my spirit, and my body was a vessel for him to navigate through this world in.
