'Go Bush Scout' (Program one : “Everything you wanted to know about camping”) was made in 1985 by the Victorian Branch of The Scout Association of Australia’s PR Council. It is a special production of a 'Go Bush' cartoon, depicting Gumbo, from Adventure Magazine, going through the procedures to make a camp interesting and safe. It can be used by a Scout Patrol to encourage them to improve their skills in hike and camp preparation. 'Adventure : the magazine for youth in Australia' was a periodical magazine much like the Victorian Scout and Australian Scout magazines but intended for a broader youth audience. It was a publication of the Victorian Branch of The Scout Association of Australia, and included a cartoon 'Go Bush' about a Troop of Scouts. The 'Go Bush' phrase and branding was used in Scout marketing. This video is the only known video in what appears to have been intended as a series of instructional videos using the cartoon characters. This is just a sample of the material which the volunteers at Scout Heritage Victoria are working to preserve for the Victorian community and especially the Scouts of the past, present and future.
