Following the resounding success of last month’s talk, we are thrilled to welcome back Dr. Jamel Akbar for another insightful session. Dive deeper into the alternatives to #capitalism and the #nation-state with Dr. Akbar as he expands on his revolutionary ideas from his book, “Qas Al-Haq.” In a world teetering on the brink of unsustainable practices, Dr. Akbar’s voice resonates as a powerful alternative. His pioneering work challenges the status quo by presenting the #Islamic legal system’s approach to #Huquq as a beacon of hope. Join us as we explore how a shift from state-centric governance to individual empowerment can pave the way for a #sustainable future. For a better context, please make sure to watch Part I. Dr. Jamel Akbar @jamelakbar1 is an architect, educator, and theorist. His theoretical contributions center around the built environment, where he measures quality through concepts like responsibility, control, ownership, and interventions. Akbar’s work delves into human and property rights, comparing them across cultures to draw conclusions about economic and social settings and their impact on the built environment. He studied architecture at King Saud University and earned both M.Arch.A.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (#MIT). His extensive teaching experience includes courses at MIT and the University of Dammam. Akbar has delivered lectures on these topics worldwide and authored three books: “Crisis in the Built Environment,” “I’marat al-A’rd fi al-I’slam,” and his most recent work, “Qas al-Haq,” which took over 20 years to write and spans approximately 1,700 pages. Currently, Akbar is a Professor at the Faculty of Design and Architecture, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University @fsmvu_ . The discussion and Q&A session is moderated by Dr. Usaama Al-Azami.
