Arkansas pt 2 Hot Springs

Welcome to the continuation of our trip to Arkansas! I know it is a long time coming. Thank you to all who have stuck with us! In this episode, we attempt to scratch the historical surface of Hot Springs, Arkansas. We visited the Fordyce Bathhouse which was converted into the visitor's center years ago. It provided quite the perspective of the area in the early 20th century. While many of the visitors of that era were simply folks intent on the healing waters and other wellness benefits, some were famous. Mae West, and gangsters like Bugs Sigel, Al Capone, and Madden frequented Hot Springs. Many famous baseball players such as Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Lou Gehrig came to "detox" in the hot water bubbling from the ground and train in the gymnasiums provided in the bathhouses. I wanted to call this episode, "Gangsters and Saints" but Wendy didn't think I had referenced enough history for that, and she was correct. Still interesting, though. At camp, we cook up some French toast to start the day and finish with "thrown together chicken #2". We finish with a trip out to the point for a look around and a preview of the next evening's sunset which will be covered in the next video. We hope you enjoy!!
