Gringo family SHOCKED at Brazilian beach (EXPENSIVE!?)

RICH BRAZILIANS LIVE HERE! (or is it mostly gringos?). Either way, Riviera de São Lourenço has some of the highest proeprty value in all of Brazil. Naturally, we were curious to see more. So, we booked ourselves a room in the Ilha Verde Condominiums and hit the road in our rental car! The first thing we noticed is that this 'gated community' is more of a 'gated city'. They have their own shopping mall, restaurants, even gas stations! The roads are all cobblestone, lined with palm trees on each side, and inbetween the condos are swimming pools, volleyball courts, playgrounds etc. ALTHOUGH! Sheesh, this place is expensive. First, we made a big mistake and forgot to look at the price per kg and the kilo restaurant. The price was 170 rs per kg and we quickly spent 220 reals on one meal. Big mistake! We've never seen a kilo restaurant this expensive. After that experience, we looked around for more prices-- and were amazed to find that the children have to pay 30rs per 20 minutes, to use the playground! (can anyone confirm if we read the sign correctly? we figured we must be misunderstanding) The good news is we brought our beautiful baby daughter to the ocean for the first time and she seemed to love it! We packed our own beer and sandwiches, and spent a great afternoon in the sun and water. (Caipirinha on the beach cost 60 reals, no kidding). We were also curious to see exactly 0 people playing football, foot-volley on the beach. We wondered if there were lots of gringos around. Ivana then lost her only prescription glasses in the ocean, and so we journeyed to the nearby Bertioga to get her some new ones. Pro-tip there's an all-you-can-eat restaurant there for 20 reals. In the end, it was a new experiecne for us, and we enjoyed it, despite spending our life savings! LOL just kidding. On to Minas Gerais! (like a library over here) 13:39 - Is this an ex-pat-only beach? 14:28 - WAY TO GO, IVANA!!! 17:20 - These glasses were the RIGHT CHOICE! (Ivana ignored my opinion) 18:46 - Pro-Tip: Bertioga is 90% cheaper!
