Sell the Team Chants at Sutter Health Park: https://x.com/DannyVietti/status/1906... Like us on Facebook: / touchbackthe Follow on X: / touchbackthe Stick a form in Sacramento, out MLB dreams are done. Empty seats and a host of other embarrassing moments carried out by two owners who don’t share a clue between them have seen Sacramento live up to its national reputation of being a bush league backwater. I don’t take joy in this because Sacramento was placed in a no-win situation by a pair of losers in John Fisher and Vivek Ranadive. Anyone with even a basic understanding of the situation knew this was exactly what would happen. Even if the A’s sold out every game while in the River City, it would be meaningless without some sort of plan for an MLB stadium. And the second the city failed to show up en masse, Sacramento would be removed from contention for a future MLB franchise, expansion, relocation, or otherwise. Every time I have tried warning folks about this situation, I’m always greeted with Sacramento’s…ahem…finest telling me about how great this is and how the team is going to sell out every game of the three years they are here. The A’s didn’t sell out their first game. Not the first game of the second season. Not even the twenty-first game of this season. Literally, the first game was not at capacity. And numbers are already dwindling. The announced 10,000 for game two looked a lot smaller. 9,342 showed up for the series finale against the Chicago Cubs. That’s the Cubs, by the way, a team with a fanbase that travels exceptionally well. I’m sure fans are going to be packing them in for those June and July Sunday day games against Minnesota and Toronto. And I’m sure that the upcoming series with the White Sox will do gangbusters box office totals. It should be noted, the A’s attendance is not a Sacramento thing. Sac Republic is killing it attendance-wise, with crowds of 11,569 and 9,251. That’s right, into two games this season, a USL soccer team in the same city outdrew an MLB team playing its second and third ever games in the city. The Oakland Coliseum is packing them in for the Roots, so it is hard to say they were the problem. It looks like John Fisher is holding the A's back. But it's worth reading either way.
