I fight in the blue corner. Unfortunately, the first round goes very quickly in favor of the red corner. At 0:28 my opponent throws a big 12-to-6 elbow and cuts my forehead. His punches were also more powerful than I had expected. It didn't hurt that much at the time because of the adrenaline, but it definitely looked good for him in front of the judges. From then on, I had to 'catch up' with my opponent's scoring, which put me in the worse position. Again, because of the adrenaline, I felt my body stiffen up, I couldn't control my body to land punches, and I missed a lot of opportunities to strike. It stayed that way for the rest of the fight. As my opponent got tired as the fight went on, I started to land more strikes, but the volume just wasn't enough for me to turn the score and win the fight. My corner yells 'kick! kick!' and I could hear them clearly, but my body didn't listen. I definitely need to work more, technically, but especially mentally. Fighting with full force in the ring is very different to the hard sparring sessions in the gym. Fortunately, I didn't suffer any serious damage after the fight. I had a few headaches and bruises on my head in the days that followed. The only serious injury is the cut on my forehead from the elbow. It didn't need stitches because it's not that deep. I still have to find out if it will leave a scar. To be honest, I'm really proud of myself for not giving up halfway through. I made it through the three laps without falling down or getting knocked down/out. I pulled myself together after the first round and put up a fight.
