COVID-19 Crisis: Tamil Nadu Records Over 6,400 New Cases, Karnataka's & Andhra Pradesh's Tally Rises

Tamil Nadu on Thursday witnessed its highest single-day spike in new Covid-19 cases, pushing tally beyond 1.9 lakh. With record 6,472 more people confirming positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the total number of cases in Tamil Nadu has reached 1,92,964, according to the state health department. Of the total cases, 52,939 are active cases while the death toll has surged to 3,232 after 88 more virus-related fatalities were reported since Wednesday, it said. Karnataka on Thursday recorded its highest single-day spike as it breached the 5,000-mark in new Covid-19 cases, taking the state’s total tally to 80,000. Meanwhile, Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru reported more than 2,000 new cases. The death toll in the state increased to 1,616 after 97 more deaths were recorded on Thursday, while 48 were from Bengaluru. according to a health department bulletin.
