4MOST Spectrographs Installed – Our New Eye on the Cosmos!
We’ve reached a major milestone: the 4MOST spectrographs are now fully installed! Soon, this powerful facility will be able to capture the light of up to 2,400 objects at once across a wide patch of the southern sky. By spreading that light into a rainbow of colours, 4MOST will give us the tools to study the chemical fingerprints and motions of stars in the Milky Way, helping us learn more about the origins of our galaxy. At the same time, 4MOST will look far beyond the Milky Way, enabling us to explore how galaxies, black holes, and the structure of the Universe have changed over cosmic time.
