This film is available to license from our website at Huntley Film Archives, by searching for film 1092170 in our Film # search bar: https://www.huntleyarchives.com/ Cut to close-up of an usher's coat. On his lapel is the phrase "Call for Philip Morris." The usher shouts out, "Call for Philip Mor-ress." Cut to Bob Shepherd who promotes the cigarette brand in a very civilized fashion. He starts by saying, "I hope this has been a very good day for all of you." Definitely worth a look because of the techniques and selling points used to make the product attractive. A classic advert. employing a straight to the camera address, a polite and attractive spokesperson acting like a guest in the home of the audience while reflecting this home through the style and decor of the set. The pack of cigarettes is held up towards the camera in a style which reflects how newspaper and billboard advertising traditionally used to sell the product. Huntley Film Archives is a film library holding tens of thousands of films. The large majority of the films are documentaries. Films cover a wide range of subjects and production dates range from the 1890’s to the 2020’s. As with all libraries we make no judgement on the content of our holdings and make them available for educational purposes for all to see. Films may have content or express opinions some may think inappropriate or offensive, but it is not the work of a library to censor educational resources. Films should be viewed with historical objectivity and within a context relevant to the times in which they were produced
