Webinar Discover the Latest Global Seafloor Substrate Maps with dbSEABED and HUB Ocean

In this webinar, dbSEABED unveiled updated global mappings of seabed substrates—now openly available at 0.1° resolution (≈11 km) through the Ocean Data Platform (ODP). While Seabed2030 advanced knowledge of seafloor shape and depth, this parallel effort mapped the physical materials of the global seabed—critical for understanding benthic ecosystems, assessing human impacts, and guiding ocean protection and restoration. The session highlighted: (1) The world’s largest integrated seabed dataset: 6+ million observations across all ocean zones; (2) How this data powered ocean research, management, and technology projects; (3) Ways to access, visualize, and combine seabed data with hundreds of other ocean datasets on the Ocean Data Platform; (4) Secure integration of private data onto the platform for richer insights.
