Have you found it more difficult to play by the rules God has called you to in the Marketplace? Does it appear that those leaders who make up their own rules, regardless of how they affect others, seem to be the ones winning in business and in life? Ladies, we are called to a higher standard of leadership as Women of Faith in the Marketplace. Based on God’s word and the days we are doing business in, this is not the time to try to fit into the World System. We must lead from a higher standard, I call the “Word System.” True success comes as we establish our leadership roles in accordance with the declarations of scripture. (Joshua 1:8) What is the difference between the two systems? 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (TLB) says it like this, “You may as well know this too, Timothy, that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money; they will be proud and boastful, sneering at God, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful to them, and thoroughly bad. 3 They will be hardheaded and never give in to others; they will be constant liars and troublemakers and will think nothing of immorality. They will be rough and cruel, and sneer at those who try to be good. 4 They will betray their friends; they will be hotheaded, puffed up with pride, and prefer good times to worshiping God. 5 They will go to church, yes, but they won’t really believe anything they hear. Don’t be taken in by people like that.” Based on 2 Timothy 3:1-7, we have a great deal to contend with as Christian women in the Marketplace because of the counterfeits or those misrepresenting Christianity. The alarming description I shared concerned people who claimed to be part of the Kingdom of God. Sadly, we can easily see these ungodly characteristics in men and women in our workspaces and those seated in high places of authority in the Marketplace and governmental systems that affect how we do business. However, God has provided us with everything we need not only to survive these trying conditions but also to stand as His conquerors amid a disquieting Marketplace and to change the business environment in our circle of influence. But according to Romans 12:1-2, it’s time we take a leadership check-up to make sure we have not fallen into the traps of the World System of doing business (2 Timothy 3:6-7). 💡 Are your goals and plans synchronized with God’s plans for you and your business? 💡Do you value your team more than the wealth they produce? Are you acknowledging and rewarding their accomplishments, valuing their gifts and abilities, and not afraid to let them shine? 💡Can you admit when you are wrong? Can you accept constructive criticism and acknowledge poor decision-making with humility and be willing to learn from your mistakes? Women of Faith, we are assured according to Psalm 37:1-5 that we do not have to worry about those evil doers, because if we lead according to the “Word System” of God, we will win in the Marketplace.
