Cedar Creek Falls (Cleveland National Forest) - In 2 Minutes

This video contains highlights of a hike to Cedar Creek Falls in Cleveland National Forest near Ramona, California. Cedar Creek Falls is an 80-foot seasonal waterfall (it does not run in the summer months) located approximately 45 miles east of San Diego. A permit is required to hike to Cedar Creek Falls. A permit can be purchased at the recreation.gov website. The hike to Cedar Creek Falls is approximately 6 miles round-trip. Nearly the entire trail to the falls is downhill (the easy part). The return trip is almost entirely uphill (the hard part). It is highly encouraged during warmer months and days to do this hike early in the day and bring plenty of water along. Benches and areas for shade and rest are provided along the way. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow. Trail markers are located about every 1/4 mile, so getting lost should not be an issue. There are three stream crossings that must be made on the way to Cedar Creek Falls. These stream crossings are all located in the final mile nearest the falls. The depth of the streams depends on the time of year and recent rainfall. Regardless of whether you choose to wear waterproof boots, water shoes, or hike in soggy shoes and socks, you will need to cross the streams to get to the waterfall. I recommend bringing water shoes and putting them on once you get to the first stream crossing. You can hike the last mile in water shoes just fine. Cedar Creek Falls is definitely worth the time and effort to get there if you are in the area and the waterfall is running (usually before the month of May).
