Following the chaotic ambush in the alien nest under the atmosphere processing plant on LV-426, Hicks reminds the survivors to “stay frosty” then says to Ripley “I wanna introduce you to a personal friend of mine - the M41A Pulse Rifle!". It's a great scene in which the characters are drawn more clearly. Hicks is concerned for Ripley and when she expresses her fear that she might be captured by the xenomorhphs he assures her he'll kill them both if necessary - foreshadowing Vasquez' last stand with Burke.
