Carl Fitsch 1830-1846 Carl was born in Mülbach (present day Romania).His father, a Lutheran pastor, was his first teacher.Though Chopin rarely taught children he agreed to teach Carl three times a week. Fitsch began touring Europe at 13.After triumphant concerts in Paris,Vienna and London his career was cut short by an early death in Venice from tuberculosis.After hearing him on one occasion Chopin exclaimed "My God, what a child! Nobody has understood me as this child has..." He studied under Chopin(later becoming his teaching assistant).He toured widely as a concert pianist and in 1858 became Director of Lviv Conservatory.
