Star Trek -- Trelane

Season 1 Episode 17 Production No. #018 Episode: "The Squire of Gothos" Trelane, an alien entity who has found a fascination with humans and abducts members of the Enterprise crew. Though not imminently hostile, Trelane's will does command great power and the safety of his guests is not necessarily foremost on his mind as he proudly announces a keen fascination for Earth's military history, military uniforms, ceremony, weaponry and death. Many a fan have speculated that the character of Trelane planted the seed somewhere in the creative consciousness of Gene Roddenberry, who possibly used that character to inform his invention of the omnipotent entity known as Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation.
