It’s meant to pay homage to Fantasyland, where classic fairytales and Disney stories come to life with plenty of magic (and touches of pixie dust). The Festival of Fantasy Parade features a mix of floats, visually stunning costumes, and original music. As the parade winds through Magic Kingdom each afternoon, the spectacular includes appearances by beloved Disney characters as well as colorfully costumed performers who dance, perform on stilts, hang from pendulums, and even swing above the crowds. The Festival of Fantasy Parade debuted at Magic Kingdom in March 2014, and its original run concluded in March 2020, when Disney World closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It returned in time for its eighth anniversary, debuting at Magic Kingdom once again in March 2022. This Magic Kingdom afternoon parade typically runs year-round. It does pause during the holiday season, usually in mid-December, for Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. Once Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade concludes on December 31 each year, the Festival of Fantasy Parade returns on January 1. The Festival of Fantasy Parade follows the same route as all other Magic Kingdom parades. It begins in Frontierland, next to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and ends on Main Street, U.S.A. The parade route passes through Frontierland, turns down the heart of Liberty Square, circles the hub in front of Cinderella Castle, and then makes its way down Main Street.
