“Ft. Worth Blues” is a song written by Steve Earle about my friend from Colorado days in the 1970s Townes Van Zandt, a great, great songwriter, who died 1 January 1997 at the age of 52. It is the final song on Steve Earle’s seventh album El Corazón (Warner, October 1997). Guy Clark released it on his album Cold Dog Soup (Sugar Hill, 1999). Guy, in a 2001 interview: “As far as Steve writing that song about Townes, the first time I heard it, it just flipped me out. Emmylou Harris came over here to the house and taught it to me, and, I mean, I’ve got pages of the song, but Steve just did it so beautifully. Who wouldn’t want to learn it? It’s just very eloquently written.” https://lonestarmusicmagazine.com/qa-... Buy Steve Earle’s album Guy (New West, 2019); go see him in concert: http://www.steveearle.com/tour
