Choosing an area to stay in when visiting a town is always the most important decision. In this video we discuss the neighborhoods of the downtown Charleston peninsula. Should I stay in the Battery area? The French Quarter? Should I stay in a hotel or short term rental (such as Airbnb or VRBO)? Hotels are sometimes good for couples or one person, but should rarely be considered for families or large groups. Plus, hotels lack the neighborhood feel that short term rentals can provide. Our favorite neighborhood to stay in while visiting Charleston is Cannonborough/Elliottborough. This neighborhood is safe and close to King Street. Most of the best restaurants and bars/clubs in Charleston are located near or in Cannonborough/Elliotborough. We also talk about the pros and cons of Wagener Terrace, The East Side and other Charleston Neighborhoods.
