Dunlop Lake Loop - Locating Summertime Trout - Personal Best Splake - Bearable Times

Day 3 and 4 of our six day trip on the Dunlop Lake Loop from Kevin Callan's "Ontario's Lost Canoe Routes" has Al and I staying put on Upper Mace Lake in search of some more Trout. Day 3 brings overcast weather and we find a few more Lake Trout and use the rest of the day for resting. Day 4 we wake up to a beautifully calm day with the fog just finishing lifting. We get out in the canoe before packing up to move onward to Lower Mace and I manage to hook up into my personal best Splake, a hybrid trout (a cross between a Lake Trout and Speckle Trout). Not long after releasing the Splake, a healthy looking Black Bear wanders along the shoreline we were fishing by, a welcome sighting. We head in after catching a few Trout to eat and pack up.
