After years of planning - I begin work on my 2GR V6 from a Lexus IS350, with plans to twin turbo it and swap it into my Subaru BRZ. In this video, we build the 2GR with billet pistons, rods, stiffer valve springs and ARP head studs. Parts: 0:00 - Painting Rocker Covers 4:08 - Unboxing Engine Parts 5:37 - Head Assembly 10:28 - Engine Assembly Designed to replace the JZ motor, GRs are widely used in Klugers/Highlanders and Aurions and almost every Lexus. The key difference being is Toyota never offered a RWD version, only Lexus. Lotus is also another manufacturer who use the FWD configurations in their mid engine supercars. The engine features many hidden signs of being able to handle more performance, such as 4 bolt crank caps, factory forged crank and dual VVTI. The fact Lotus also saw potential to use them in their supercars is a big deal too. This video has been my biggest project so far with months of weekends going into not only the assembly of the engine but filming as much detail as I could. Filmed on Sony A7RII with 35mm GM Lens.
